Reimaging “Cuomo” the table tennis community amid the coronavirus pandemic. Coronavirus Pandemic and the impact on our society, daily lives and the table tennis community.
IleOduduwa.com the Source would like to send condolences to all who have lost a family member or friends to the coronavirus pandemic. The Coronavirus pandemic has been devastating in our southwest Michigan community, especially the Detroit Metro Area.
As we all know, it probably will take at least a year for a coronavirus vaccine to be developed, approved, and distributed for use by the population, and widespread coronavirus testing and antibody testing will take time.
In the interim, we must continue to adapt to social distancing and sheltering in place guidelines set by Governor Whitmer until May 15, 2020. As I listened to a daily coronavirus briefing by Governor Cuomo of New York calling for us to “reimagine” as opposed to simply reopen and to “Build back better”, I thought of our table tennis community and how we might begin to plan together now to build upon our strengths and to recognize and to implement new ideas as we adapt to the current crisis in our world today.
Each table tennis club is unique in its structure and sharing our guidelines and sharing how each clubs implements the social distancing rules so members can participate safely in a sport they all love will be beneficial to the whole community as we move forward.
Therefore, I am reaching out to the table tennis communities from Waterloo and Windsor in Canada, the Detroit metro area and Davison, Michigan, in hopes that we might connect together first and foremost to support one another in this time of crisis and secondly to plan for our future.
