IleOduduwa the Source was present at the nineteen annual garthering of the African Diaspora Ancestor Commemoration Institute this year to honor and celebrate ancestors lost during the middle passage. This was the first time IleOduduwa the Source participated and covered this magnificent event with members of Odu’a Organization of Michigan to experience the spiritual, emotional and educational uplifting such an occasion elevate the human sprite and be in tune with your ancestor and for me my Yorubaness. This event reminds me of the annual event that takes place every year in Osogbo, in Osun state call the Osun-Osogbo festival in Nigeria.
The Ceremony was lead under the leaderships and guidance of Baba Kefentse Chike and Mama Hanifa Adjuman.
They poured libations, sang Yoruba and other African songs, listened to words from various individuals and honored one another.
The President/Asiwaju and Igbakeji of the Odu’a organization of Michigan Mr. Shola Salako and Mr. Tokunbo Williams were present and Mr. Salako shared important awareness on their upcoming Yoruba classes led by Prof. Adeboye Adegbenro and their group field trip to Yoruba land. He deeply appreciated the ADACI for honoring the work of our ancestors. The Odu’a Organization of Michigan and IleOduduwa the Source looks forward to greater collaborations with The ADACI.
