Alagba Adébóyè Adégbénró gave IleOduduwa the Source the opportunity and previlage to interview him. I have had the privilege to learn beginning Yoruba language from Alagba Adeboye Adegbenro at the WCCCD Detroit, NW campus. The class is offered through the School of Continuing Education and Workforce Development of the Wayne County Community College District, and is held every Saturday, from 10 a.m. to noon.
The instructor, Alagba, Adébóyè Adégbénró was born in Abeokuta, Nigeria. Although I had known Alagba Adegbenro before taking the class, not until I experienced his teaching did I discover what a tremendous talent we have among us in metro Detroit.
Alagba Adegbenro is a passionate advocate of the Yoruba language, culture and tradition. His early childhood shaped his music curiosity and a timely opportunity enhanced his love for art and the development of his skills in illustration and cartooning.
Alagba Adegbenro also honed his artistic skills through apprenticeship like programs, formal academic education, and advanced degrees. His deep knowledge of the Yoruba language is fully integrated in his music and art.
It is my great pleasure, with many thanks to Alagba Adeboye Adegbenro for taking time for the interview with IleOduduwa the Source, to share with you his many accomplishments and his love for all things Yoruba.
