A UNION
June is a great time of year for Nuptials, and we’ve really got one to tell you about. The ceremonies were complete with a beautiful bride, doting parents, dancing twin brothers, a parade of colorful geles, and a handsome groom. Such was the solemnization of Oluseyi Rachael Akinpelu and her husband Oluyinka Olakunle Salako that took place Saturday May 27, 2017 in Detroit Michigan at the Greater Grace temple accompanied by an orange and cream reception at the Wayne Tree Manor.
In a sea of pink and blue, well wishers also attended a traditional engagement ceremony at 7pm friday evening at the Edo Heritage Hall in Southfield, Michigan.
I attend a lot of events throughout the year and weddings have to be my favorite. Every culture has it’s own wedding traditions but we Nigerians, we Yoruba must admit we take an extra step to make it extra special. From the money dance in which well wishers sprayed money on the bride to the groom’s immaculate dress, to the traditional dishes Weddings are the go to social event. I must admit that I thoroughly enjoy every single minute of all three events, but I was so preoccupied with socializing and picture taking that i didn’t get a chance to sample all of the dishes I wanted. Anyhow, what an absolute joy. To the bride and groom with much love, my wife and I and all of us here at IleOduduwa.com wish you all of the happiness and success. WE LOVE IT.
